Three Magical Moments in Bridal Preparation
There’s something truly exciting about being part of a bride’s journey on her wedding day. As a bridal makeup artist and hairstylist, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing countless magical moments on their big day. I have three memorable moments that never fail to warm my heart and remind me why I love doing what I do. Here’s a glimpse into my top three cherished moments of doing a bride’s hair and makeup.
1. Brushing Out the Hair and Giving Final Touches
Magical moment #1 happens during the final stages of hairstyling. After hours of meticulous work and prep, there’s is such a satisfaction in brushing out the bride’s hair and making the final tweaks. It’s the moment when the hairstyle transitions from a structured creation to a soft, flowing masterpiece that perfectly frames the bride’s face. Every strand is in place, every curl falls just right, and the overall look starts to take shape. This is when the bride’s vision becomes reality and she looks just like the pictures she pinned on her wedding Pinterest board.
2. The Bride Seeing Herself for the First Time
The second moment is one that I look forward to the most: the bride seeing herself for the first time after her hair and makeup are complete. There’s a special kind of magic in that first glance in the mirror. It’s a mix of joy, surprise, and sometimes even a few happy tears (but I don’t stress because I know the makeup is waterproof)! The transformation is more than just physical; it’s an emotional moment where the bride truly feels like a bride. It’s in that reflection that she sees all the planning, dreaming, and anticipation come together, and the reality of the day begins to sink in.
3. The Bride Looking and Feeling Her Absolute Best
Finally, the third moment is about confidence. After the initial surprise and delight of seeing herself, there’s a shift in the bride’s demeanor. She stands a little taller, her smile broadens, and there’s a sparkle in her eyes. This is when she knows she looks and feels her absolute best. This confidence radiates from within and carries her through the rest of her day, from walking down the aisle to dancing the night away. It’s a feeling that no amount of makeup or styling can create on its own—it’s the culmination of feeling beautiful inside and out.
These three moments are my personal favs and I’ll never get tired of them (even after 25 years of being a makeup/hair artist) . Each bride’s journey is unique, but these shared experiences create memories that last a lifetime.
