During the holidays I love to give back. Throughout the year I receive tons of beauty products from various companies, events and gigs. I would never personally be able to use everything so for the past 4+ years I have put together shoeboxes filled with beauty products for a drive called The Shoebox Project.
All you need to do is fill a shoebox with little luxuries and throughout the year these boxes are given to woman experiencing homelessness. The shoeboxes will let these women know that they are loved and valued.
This year The Shoebox Project has established an Aboriginal Women Fund to provide donations specifically to Aboriginal girls and women, who are over-represented in the homeless populations of Canada’s cities and experience higher rates of violence than non-Aboriginal women. Donations to this fund allow them to send gifts to shelters serving aboriginal women in remote communities where The Shoebox Project does not have volunteers on the ground running gift drives.
Here is a video that wonderfully captures what this cause is all about:
There are drop off centers all throughout Canada. The drive is on from November 14th-December 9th 2016. Please visit the The Shoebox Project website for all the info you need from how to put a box together to where to drop it off:
Beauty to you for the perfect ‘I Do’!
‘Tis the Season!!!
